I am an HCPC Registered Speech and Language Therapist and Dramatherapist. I qualified first as a Speech and Language Therapist in 1997 and then as a Dramatherapist in 2006. I am also a vocalist/vocal explorer and a passionate believer in the voice as a source of connection and healing and offer 1:1 work and workshops for people who are feeling cut off or limited in some way in terms of their relationship with their voice.
For over 20 years, I have worked with children, young people and adults with a range of communication and mental health needs as well as those of us who just feel blocked in some way in their life situation. Although, every person has been different in terms of their age, family and cultural background, life experience and current difficulties, what has been common in all cases is that their difficulties have blocked them from actualising their full potential and making fulfilling connections with others in many or all aspects of their lives.
The combination of both my SaLT and Dramatherapy training enables a more holistic, creative and flexible approach. This may mean that with one client a play based, more indirect approach is utilised and with another a practical, structured approach is felt to best meet their needs.
In recent years, I have worked mainly with people diagnosed with ASC (Autistic Spectrum Condition), Learning difficulties, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties), Depression and Attachment related Difficulties. I have also worked with those who have specific trauma or wounds around using their voice.
I am trained in The Listening Program, VERVE interaction therapy and am involved in a regular practice group training in DvT (Developmental Transformations).
I am a keen 5Rhythms Dancer and Producer and also occasionally offer improvised vocals in classes in London.
